Author's note: This is part of a new series that will feature small, local art, design or crafts businesses and projects. Maylikha, in Filipino, means creator, and here it is very apt. Trust us to scout for you the best and most personal handmade or home-grown gifts and items in town. Today, we kick off with a krafty + kaeratana exclusive, Phoebe & July.
Don't we all just love the sight of "real mail" in our pigeon holes? In this day and age of five-minute emails, monthly bills in our mailbox and shortened text messages daily, seeing an actual one and getting to hold it with our two hands is always a breath of fresh air. Today, we introduce Phoebe & July, offering you carefully curated vintage postage stamps in charming and themed stationery sets. Read a bit about the project, the concept and the brand below and find out how this definitely ups the classic and always romantic hand-notes game.
We love real mail, we even love the actual postage and snail mail and we terribly hope it's all not a dying art. But hey, even if you just hand your mail along with gifts to recipient, despite not being technically a snail mail, they simply would love the personal touch.
What is Phoebe & July?
Phoebe and July issues curated and pre-designed and handcrafted real-mail paraphernalia and stationery, as well as custom made ones, for writing personal and intimate mail. Every single collection that Phoebe & July creates is like no other. And not only do you treasure its uniqueness, the feel and magic of old-fashioned "real mail" that Phoebe & July postage and stationery exude is also definitely something to fall in love with.
What do Phoebe & July primarily offer?
We have stationery, mail, thank-you and invitation sets employing custom unused Philippine postage [ready to drop at the post office for your snail mail needs]... or the more valued, more popular and requested by our clients, vintage, old-stamped postage and valuable stamp collections from all over the world and from different periods of time [for hand-over gift cards and letters].
What was the inspiration behind Phoebe & July?
Three words. Griffin and Sabine. Even the brand name was to a certain obvious extent, influenced by the novel. Love letters, postcards, stunning sketches, this epistolary novel by Nick Bantock and the rest of the trilogy has everything that a romantic and design-crazy person needs to last a long time. Almost 25 years since its first release, it still remains a go-to inspiration for us more than anything else we find on Pinterest. Also, real mail is almost a dying art, and it is a shame because it is so beautiful. It has always been beautiful for generations, almost since the invention of paper and writing. All that plus a desire to leave a personal touch in everything that matters are what formed the beginnings of the Phoebe & July concept.
Do you offer other goods and services apart from your classic signature range of handcrafted postage and stationery?
Not specifically, as of the moment but our postage stamps, both the officially usable and the vintage collectibles, and very carefully and expertly hand-mounted on envelopes, are assembled in collections that suit a variety of theme or your needs. We have a selection for weddings, gratitude, kudos, birthdays, friendship and love, and all other occasions, milestones and bonds you want to celebrate with a unique and special note.
If you have special events like a wedding or some sort of a shower and you want your very own custom postage or stationery to make it even more special, we got you covered.
We are also working on a series of custom stationery which will be launched as our next major range soon.
